Legal Counsel

Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide legal support to the projects function and assist with Commercial and Facilities Management (FM) contracts as required.
Job Overview
This role supports the full lifecycle of transactions, including bid, negotiation, business-as-usual (BAU) activity, and exit or termination. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring legal oversight across a broad portfolio of construction and commercial agreements.
Working closely with leadership teams and central functions, the Legal Counsel will provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice, ensuring compliance and supporting effective decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal support across the full lifecycle of transactions, including bids, negotiations, BAU and exit/termination
- Negotiate and advise on construction and commercial agreements, including standard form NEC and JCT contracts
- Deliver direct legal support to the Projects Leadership Team on a range of legal and commercial issues
- Support dispute resolution with clients or suppliers, including instructing external counsel where necessary
- Advise on legal developments and assess their implications for the business
- Maintain and update standard contract terms and templates
- Provide legal advice to leadership teams on ad hoc queries
- Support central functions (Tax, People & Culture, IT, H&S, Operations Performance) and collaborate with Group Legal on UK-related global deals
Person Specification
- Qualified Solicitor with strong post-qualified experience
- Background in the construction industry with knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
- Proven experience advising on and negotiating construction and commercial agreements
- Strong understanding of contract law and standard form contracts
- Good knowledge of data protection in commercial transactions, competition law, TUPE and intellectual property rights
- Experience working in a commercially focused environment with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to provide clear, pragmatic and business-oriented legal advice
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
