The Opportunity Our Client, a World recognised and respected Automotive OEM Manufacturer based in rural Warwickshire, are actively seeking an experienced Logistics Engineer to join their highly successful team with immediate effect on initially a 6-month Contract basis (Inside IR35). On offer to the successful candidate is a highly competitive hourly rate.
As their Logistics Engineer, you will develop, implement, and optimise logistics processes and infrastructure from supplier to production line. This role combines logistics engineering, industrial engineering, project management, and data analytics to deliver high-performing, cost-effective logistics solutions that underpin our client’s premium production standards.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:- End-to-End Logistics Process Engineering - Design and maintain material flow strategies from global suppliers through inbound transport, warehouse operations, and lineside delivery.
- Industrial Engineering & Layout Optimisation - Apply MTM, time & motion studies, and ergonomic principles to improve operator tasks, warehouse operations, and delivery cycles.
- Quality, Risk & Problem Solving - Lead logistics issue resolution using structured problem-solving tools: CCAR, 8D, 5-Whys, and Ishikawa.
- Cost Modelling & Benchmarking - Create and maintain logistics cost models to evaluate delivery solutions, warehouse concepts, and supplier scenarios.
- Project & Change Management - Deliver logistics engineering workstreams in cross-functional project teams, covering layout design, delivery method introduction, and system integration.
- Workshop Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement - Facilitate cross-functional kaizen events, risk reviews, and line balance workshops to deliver tangible improvements.
- Data Analytics & Reporting - Build and present actionable insights using Power BI, Excel, and SAP to track delivery adherence, takt compliance, line stops, SPR, and stock health.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:- Should ideally be educated to Degree standard in Logistics, Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent, although plenty of relevant experience will also be considered.
- You should be an experienced Logistics Engineer / Logistics Process Engineer, who has a deep understanding of inbound supply chain, warehouse flows, and plant delivery systems.
- Should be skilled in MTM, layout design (AutoCAD), time & motion analysis, and lean logistics.
- Will need a strong working knowledge of LN, SAP, Power BI, Tableau and WMS/TMS platforms.
- Proven experience in structured problem solving (8D/CCAR), FMEA, and risk mitigation is needed.
- Should be confident in building cost models, leading benchmarking, and presenting logistics strategies to stakeholders.
- Strong project management and cross-functional facilitation skills will be required here.
It’s great if you also have the following:- Automotive industry experience.
- Experience in new model launch introductions and engineering change is highly desirable.
- Experience of supervision and people processes is highly desirable.
