Maintenance Engineer
Stafford (4 day working week - Fridays off)
Up to 45k
Job Purpose:
The Manufacturing Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment and facility infrastructure. The role involves carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance activities, troubleshooting equipment failures, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, aiding machine moves, updating infrastructure and liaising with servicing and insurance providers, while helping to minimise production downtime. Part of the engineering team - reporting to Engineering Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment and site services.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault diagnosis and repairs.
- Maintain production machinery including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of new and existing equipment.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing downtime and maintenance costs, working closely with production teams to improve equipment performance and manufacturing efficiency.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and safe working procedures.
- Participate in audits and contribute to a positive safety culture.
- Ensure machinery remains compliant with relevant legislation and company standards.
- Support lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and permit-to-work systems where applicable.
- Collaborate with production operators and supervisors to minimise downtime.
- Provide technical support and training to operators where appropriate.
- Participate in maintenance and factory planning meetings.
Skills and Experience:
Essential
- Minimum HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, or equivalent qualification in Electro-mechanical or Maintenance Engineering.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office applications.
- Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Desirable
- Multi-skilled engineering experience.
- PLC fault-finding experience.
- Experience with automated production equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
- The person we are looking for will be a time-served Electrician with City & Guilds Qualification,18th Edition preferred but not essential. Hydraulic and Pneumatic experience would also be an advantage but not essential.

- Crane / Scaffold WAH certified
