Maintenance Technician – Engineering
I’m currently working with a leading company that is looking to appoint an experienced Maintenance Technician to join their Engineering team on a permanent basis.
This is a hands-on engineering role, working across a range of process plant and equipment within an industrial environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining plant reliability, supporting continuous improvement and ensuring high standards of engineering and safety are maintained.
The Role
Reporting to the Workshop Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out mechanical maintenance on a range of process plant, including pumps, vessels, separation equipment, heat exchangers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and piping.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical documentation and circuit diagrams.
- Undertaking basic electrical work, including work on electric motors and starter circuits.
- Completing mechanical assembly and pipe preparation.
- Carrying out valve repair, refurbishment and pressure testing.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing CMMS reporting to ensure all maintenance activities are fully documented and auditable.
- Supporting the operation and maintenance of the CHP plant, including gas compression, steam generation and electricity generation.
- Carrying out daily and weekly plant monitoring.
- Supporting Root Cause Analysis following equipment failures and identifying opportunities to improve reliability.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, engineering hygiene and safe working practices.
- Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota once fully competent, with additional remuneration provided.
What we're looking for
Essential:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Maintenance or a relevant engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years' hands-on engineering maintenance experience.
- Practical experience and understanding of pump and valve maintenance.
- Good PC skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic electrical knowledge.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use reliability and maintenance data to identify areas for improvement.
- A flexible and positive approach to work.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of boiler operation, maintenance and repair.
- Experience working within an industrial or high-hazard environment.
- Understanding of relevant regulations and safe systems of work.
- Mechanical experience with both fixed and rotating equipment.
