The Opportunity
One of the UK’s largest and most respected MEP contractors is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join the team on a flagship science park and commercial development based in Oxford.
This is an excellent opportunity to work with a contractor that has an outstanding reputation within the industry, a strong project pipeline, and a proven track record of progressing and retaining high-performing staff.
Initially offered on a freelance basis, there is a genuine opportunity for the successful candidate to transition into a permanent PAYE position in the near future.
Role Overview
You will take responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of the mechanical package, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality expectations.
The role requires a strong Construction Manager with experience coordinating multiple mechanical disciplines and managing subcontractors within fast-paced commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee mechanical installation works across the project
Manage and coordinate subcontractors and specialist suppliers
Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, specifications, and quality standards
Maintain strict health & safety compliance on site
Coordinate multiple mechanical disciplines across various work fronts
Monitor progress and provide reporting to senior project teams
Support commissioning, snagging, and handover activities
Liaise with consultants, clients, and internal delivery teams
Requirements
Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager within MEP/building services
Strong background working on commercial projects
Experience overseeing multiple mechanical disciplines
Strong subcontractor management and coordination skills
Good understanding of programme management and site delivery
