Mechanical Design Engineer

The Company

We are working with an established engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke product handling and material handling solutions. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, technically minded engineer to work on a varied range of projects, taking designs from initial concept through to detailed engineering and manufacture.

The Role

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical solutions to meet customer requirements, working closely with colleagues across design, manufacturing and project engineering:

• Producing detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.

• Designing bespoke mechanical equipment and product handling systems.
• Developing concepts and turning customer requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Supporting projects from initial design through to manufacture, assembly and installation.
• Working closely with production and assembly teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient and cost-effective.
• Reviewing and improving existing designs, components and engineering processes.
• Ensuring designs meet relevant engineering standards, safety requirements and project specifications.
• Liaising with internal teams and, where required, customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues.

The Candidate

To be successful in your application for this Mechanical Design Engineer role you will need:

• Experience in a mechanical design engineering role, preferably within machinery, automation, or materials handling.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and the production of detailed engineering drawings.
• The ability to interpret technical specifications and develop effective design solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
