Key responsibilites of a Mechanical Development Engineer:
- Prepare validation plans based on risk assessments and FMEA’s.
- Support or lead test development to understand the limits of the diesel pump designs.
- Support planning of tests on rigs & engines and track execution of validation plans.
- Interpret test data by conducting analysis on various parameters monitored during testing and report the results.
- Analyse and report on diesel pumps after completion of internal rig & engine tests and customer engine & vehicle tests.
- Root cause analysis of failed diesel pumps, performance assessments and correlation of diesel pumps running on test bench vs engine and vehicle returns.
- Support or prepare reliability calculations for the diesel pump.
- Support design and gate review meetings.
- Support continuous improvement opportunities.
- Ensure EH&S and Quality Management System conformance (IATF 16949).
- Support customer and supplier project meetings as and when required.
- Support department targets, Budget, Performance metrics and Quality Standards.
Mandatory
- Knowledge of DFMEA methodology.
- Knowledge of Change management systems.
Desirable
- Reliability Engineering knowledge; eg: Weibull, FRACAS, FMEA, Statistical Analysis etc.
- Knowledge of problem solving methodologies.
- Experience working with customers and communicating at various levels of the organisation
