Mechanical Project Engineer

I’m currently representing a market-leading Tier 1 MEP Contractor with a strong presence across the UK and Europe, delivering complex projects across the Data Centre, Commercial, Infrastructure and Life Sciences sectors.

Due to continued growth and a secured pipeline of mission critical projects, they are now looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Engineer to join the delivery team on a major Data Centre development in East London.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on a technically challenging, fast-paced project with a highly experienced delivery team and genuine long-term progression opportunities within one of the industry’s most sought-after sectors.

The Opportunity

Working alongside Senior Project Managers and site teams, you’ll play a key role in the delivery and coordination of mechanical building services packages across a large-scale mission critical environment.

This role will suit someone who enjoys technically demanding projects and wants exposure to complex mechanical systems within a live data centre construction environment.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery and coordination of mechanical packages on site
• Work closely with Project Managers and construction teams to maintain programme targets
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers and specialist mechanical trades
• Monitor installation progress and ensure works are delivered in line with programme
• Carry out inspections, QA checks and technical reviews
• Assist in resolving technical and installation challenges on site
• Support commissioning activities and handover processes
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and QA procedures
• Contribute to project reporting, risk management and progress tracking
• Ensure installations are delivered in line with design and client specifications

⚙️ Requirements

• Experience working as a Mechanical Project Engineer or Mechanical Engineer within the building services / MEP sector
• Previous experience delivering Data Centre, mission critical or large-scale commercial projects preferred
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services systems
• Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating site activities
• Good understanding of QA/QC procedures and health & safety compliance
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• CSCS card essential
• SMSTS and First Aid beneficial
