Operations Manager (Terminal Logistics)

Our client, a global leader in logistics and terminal operations, is seeking a skilled Operations Manager to join their team in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive operational excellence and innovation in a fast-paced maritime environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead terminal operations including cargo handling (heavy lift, breakbulk, automotive).
- Manage H&H lift operations, terminal fleet, and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.
- Organise staff and contractor resources to meet operational needs.
- Monitor KPIs, manage budgets, and identify improvements for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Foster a safety-first culture in partnership with HSEQ teams.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to optimise yard and warehouse capacity.
- Encourage employee development through training and coaching.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and handle employee relations as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience leading large teams in terminal or logistics settings.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to analyse operational data, manage budgets, and drive improvements.
- Knowledge of cargo handling, yard management, and equipment maintenance.
- Stevedoring experience beneficial.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with terminal management systems.
- Full, clean UK driving licence.
- Relevant qualifications and understanding of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure, adapt to priorities, and uphold ethical standards.
