Operations Manager (Terminal Logistics)

Our client, a global leader in logistics and terminal operations, is seeking a skilled Operations Manager to join their team in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive operational excellence and innovation in a fast-paced maritime environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead terminal operations including cargo handling (heavy lift, breakbulk, automotive).
• Manage H&H lift operations, terminal fleet, and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Organise staff and contractor resources to meet operational needs.
• Monitor KPIs, manage budgets, and identify improvements for performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Foster a safety-first culture in partnership with HSEQ teams.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to optimise yard and warehouse capacity.
• Encourage employee development through training and coaching.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and handle employee relations as needed.

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience leading large teams in terminal or logistics settings.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Proven ability to analyse operational data, manage budgets, and drive improvements.
• Knowledge of cargo handling, yard management, and equipment maintenance.
• Stevedoring experience beneficial.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with terminal management systems.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Relevant qualifications and understanding of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001) preferred.
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to priorities, and uphold ethical standards.
