Panel Wirer / Panel Wireperson / Panel Wireman (Electrical Panel Wirier) c£28-30hr / ltd rate (outside IR35) Salary dependent on experience ONSITE ABJ6523
Contract: Immediate start – end Aug 2026 (3m likely extension depending on workload)
A new position for an experienced Panel Wireperson (Electrical Panel Wirer / Control Panel Wirer) is urgently required for a leading engineering services company for new upcoming projects.
A skilled Panel Wireperson (panel wirer) will assist with the assembly and wiring of control panels for industrial and infrastructure clients. As panel wirer this would suit individuals experienced in reading and interpreting technical drawings and completing high‑quality panel builds.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and wire electrical and instrumentation control panels according to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Interpret electrical schematic wiring drawings and general arrangement drawings.
- Install and route wires, cables, terminals, relays, PLC components, sensors, switches, and other electrical devices.
- Perform point-to-point wiring and cable termination.
- Conduct continuity checks, insulation tests, and basic functional testing of completed assemblies.
- Identify, diagnose, and correct wiring errors and electrical faults.
- Collaborate with engineers during prototype development to implement design changes and improvements.
- Maintain accurate records of any build and wiring modifications throughout the control panel build and wiring duration.
- Ensure compliance with electrical standards, company procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Identify shortages and alert team leaders in a timely manner when looking at work flow.
Required Qualifications
- Experience wiring electrical and instrumentation control panels.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency in cable preparation, crimping and termination techniques.
- Familiarity with electrical components such as relays, contactors, circuit breakers, terminal blocks, PLCs, and power supplies.
- Competent in using hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment.
Desirable Qualifications
- Technical certification, apprenticeship, or vocational training in electrical engineering, electrical installation, or a related field.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems and panel-building standards.
- Understanding of low-voltage and industrial electrical systems.
This role is ideal for an experienced wire person who enjoys hands-on electrical assembly, prototype development, and working closely with engineering teams to bring new products from concept to reality.
