Job Description:

Payroll and Benefits Officer (Part time - 24 hours per week)
Staffordshire | £30-32K (Pro Rata) | Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of a varied, standalone payroll position based in Staffordshire.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting stuck into the detail. The payroll currently involves a mixture of manual processes, so you’ll need to be comfortable working this way whilst also supporting the business as it continues to move towards more digital ways of working.

The role will include:

• Managing payroll for up to 250 employees
• Processing a mixture of lunar and monthly payrolls
• Managing different pay types including hourly, minimum wage and salaried employees
• Supporting a separate pensioner payroll linked to a final salary scheme
• Processing payroll using Sage 50 Payroll
• Managing pensions, including auto-enrolment and annual pension audits
• Working with pension providers including Aviva and The People’s Pension
• Managing timesheets and ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time
• Helping to improve and digitalise existing payroll processes

What we’re looking for!

• You’ll be an experienced payroll professional who is confident managing a busy and occasionally complex payroll.
• Previous experience using Sage 50 Payroll is important, and exposure to Sage HR would be beneficial.
• You’ll also be comfortable working with manual processes, rather than expecting everything to be fully automated from day one.
• Experience of payrolls involving different rates, pay structures or employee groups would be particularly useful.

The role is part time, and we are looking for the successful candidate to work Mondays and Thursdays in office, with some flexibility around the working pattern.
