Package: Competitive + long term on new build EfWScope: New build Energy from Waste plant. You will supervise ALL stainless installation - TIG welded high purity systems AND Geberit Mapress press-fit stainless systems for utility services.The Role:
Lead the stainless pipework crew delivering both welded (304L / 316L) and Mapress press-fit pipework across Boiler House, Turbine Hall, FGT, Water Treatment, WTP, compressed air, potable water, LTHW and chemical dosing support systems. Full control of quality, purge/weld quality AND Mapress joint integrity.Key Responsibilities:1. Mapress Press-Fit - SpecialistMust be certified / competent in Geberit Mapress Stainless Steel system - Mapress SS304/316L, M-profileSupervise installation of Mapress 15mm - 108mm pipework - cutting, deburring, insertion depth marking, pressingControl pressing tools - Novopress / Geberit ACO203 / ECO301, ensure tools are calibrated, jaws are correct type (M15-M108), calibration certs in dateEnforce Mapress best practice - no carbon steel contamination, correct O-ring (FKM black / HNBR yellow), pipe end preparation, no distortion, support distances to Geberit specTrain and sign-off installers - only Mapress-approved operatives to pressManage leak testing of Mapress systems - air test 4.5 bar / hydro to 1.5x WP, ensure O-rings not displaced, conduct visual check of press indicatorMaintain Mapress material traceability - MTRs, Geberit genuine fittings, batch control2. TIG / Orbital Stainless - GeneralSupervise TIG butt weld & orbital welding gangs for process pipework where Mapress is not suitable - dosing, demin, leachate, FGTEnsure WPS/PQR compliance, welders coded to EN 9606-1 / ASME IX, argon purge control with O2 ppm <50ppm for rootControl stainless segregation - dedicated tools, end caps, no mild steel contact, pipe cleanlinessManage weld mapping, NDT (DP, RT), passivation / pickling, ferrite checks where required3. Quality & DocumentationOwn the pipework ITPs - including separate Mapress ITP - press checks, calibration, insertion depth verificationProduce test packs - Mapress press logs + weld packs, pressure test certs to EN 13480 / EN 806 / PEDIsometric completion, punchlist and MC walkdowns with clientControl supports - Geberit Mapress sliding / fixed point spec vs traditional pipe supports4. HSE - UK EfW New BuildDaily TBTs, Point of Work RA, RAMS compliance, CDM 2015Issue PTW - hot works (TIG only - Mapress is cold works advantage), working at height, confined spaceManage battery press tool safety, hot works fire watch reduction where Mapress usedSMSTS / SSSTS, CSCS Supervisor Black Card essentialEssential Experience:Proven Stainless Supervisor on EfW, Power Station, Pharma, Food, Data Centre new buildMust have Mapress experience - able to prove 2+ years supervising Mapress SS installs on large projects (EfW / Power / Healthcare / Industrial)Geberit Mapress Approved Installer / Supervisor Card desirable - or willing to do 1-day Geberit certificationIn-depth knowledge of Mapress system - when you can use Mapress vs when you must TIG (temperature, chemical compatibility, steam, PED Cat)Knowledge of EN 13480, EN 10312, PED, Geberit Mapress technical manualCan read P&IDs / Isometrics / BIM 3D model and identify Mapress / welded break pointsSMSTS / SSSTS, CSCS Gold/Black, First Aid, Confined Space TicketWhy Mapress on this EfW:
Client is pushing Mapress on all utility stainless to reduce hot works by 60%, speed up installation in ACC / Air Cooled Condenser area and admin buildings, and remove need for purge in occupied plant rooms.
