Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Plumbing & Mechanical Engineer to join a growing mechanical services team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality plumbing, heating and mechanical installations across a range of construction projects. The role will suit a skilled and reliable engineer with a strong practical background who takes pride in delivering work to a high standard.
You will work as part of a wider site and project team, carrying out installations in accordance with drawings, specifications and current regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out plumbing, heating and mechanical installations on a range of construction projects.
- Install and maintain domestic and commercial plumbing and heating systems.
- Work with hot and cold water services, sanitaryware, pipework and associated mechanical systems.
- Install and connect plant, equipment and associated mechanical services.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and installation details.
- Carry out testing, inspection and commissioning activities where required.
- Identify and resolve installation and technical issues on site.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed project timescales.
- Work closely with site supervisors, project managers and other trades.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety and comply with site-specific RAMS.
- Keep work areas clean, safe and organised.
- Assist with snagging, remedial works and project handovers.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Plumbing, Heating or Mechanical Engineer.
- Strong practical knowledge of plumbing and mechanical building services.
- Experience working with hot and cold water systems, heating and associated pipework.
- Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Experience working on construction or new build projects would be advantageous.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Reliable, professional and hardworking with a positive attitude.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications
The following would be advantageous:
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent trade qualification.
- Relevant mechanical services qualifications.
- CSCS Card.
- IPAF, PASMA or other relevant site certifications.
- Previous experience working on residential, commercial or care home developments.
