Prison Staff Nurse (RMN / RGN)

Role Overview
The Band 6 Prison Staff Nurse works within a secure custodial environment to deliver high-quality physical and mental health nursing care to residents. You will be responsible for triaging patients, managing emergency situations, conducting health assessments, and supporting mental health and substance misuse recovery programs within the prison establishment.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial healthcare screenings and risk assessments for new admissions into the prison establishment.
Deliver evidence-based mental health and clinical interventions tailored to patients with complex needs, personality disorders, or neurodiverse conditions.
Administer medication safely in accordance with trust policies and prison security guidelines.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies, acute distress, and self-harm incidents across the wings.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including prison staff, GPs, psychiatrists, and substance misuse teams to maintain care plans.
Requirements & Qualifications
Registration: Active NMC Registration (Registered Mental Health Nurse / RMN or Registered General Nurse / RGN).
Security Clearance: Valid Prison Clearance required.
Experience: Previous experience working within secure environments, offender healthcare, or acute mental health settings preferred.
Compliance: Compliance with NHSi Framework standards.
