Private Sector Housing OfficerSurrey
£50-£55 per hour
6-month initial contract
Park Avenue Recruitment are working with a Local Authority in Surrey who are looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract.
The role will have a particular focus on HMOs and unlicensed properties, carrying out inspections, investigating potential breaches and taking appropriate enforcement action where required.
The role will include:
- Carrying out inspections of HMOs and other privately rented properties
- Investigating unlicensed HMOs and suspected licensing breaches
- Undertaking HHSRS inspections and identifying Category 1 and Category 2 hazards
- Investigating complaints relating to housing conditions, disrepair and poor property standards
- Preparing and serving statutory notices under relevant housing legislation
- Taking enforcement action against landlords and managing agents where appropriate
- Supporting HMO licensing investigations and applications
- Gathering evidence and maintaining detailed case files
- Preparing cases for civil penalties, prosecutions and Tribunal proceedings
- Liaising with landlords, tenants, letting agents and other internal or external partners
- Ensuring properties meet required standards under the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation
We're looking for:
- Strong Local Authority Private Sector Housing / Housing Enforcement experience
- Good working knowledge of HMOs, HMO licensing and enforcement
- Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS
- Confidence carrying out inspections and managing enforcement cases independently
- Experience serving notices and progressing cases through formal enforcement where necessary
The position is paying £50-£55 per hour on an initial 6-month contract, with free parking available for officers attending site/the office.
