Job Description:
Product manager (CRM portfolio and technical services)
Location: St Ives, Cambridgeshire (office based/hybrid) Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: up to £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience
The role
We are recruiting a technically credible Product Manager to work for a reputable business in the St Ives area. This is a genuinely distinctive product management role — sitting at the intersection of technical capability, service delivery, and commercial performance rather than in the world of software or SaaS.
You will take ownership of a portfolio of technical services and solutions, including testing, micro machining, and specialised CRM and service offerings, acting as the bridge between technical teams, operations, digital and content functions, and commercial leadership. The core of this role is translating complex, often bespoke technical capabilities into scalable, clearly defined, and commercially effective product offers. This position will suit a technically grounded individual who has developed strong commercial instincts — not the other way around.
Main responsibilities
- Own the commercial performance of assigned technical service and solution portfolios
- Define, structure, and optimise service and technical product ranges, including range reviews, extensions, and rationalisation
- Translate complex technical capabilities into repeatable, market-ready offers
- Lead service and catalogue strategy aligned to customer demand and growth priorities
- Improve the online effectiveness of services, working closely with content and technical teams on clarity, structure, and conversion
- Own SEO and PPC positioning and discoverability for technical services and CRM-related offers
- Use performance, enquiry, and demand data to evolve service propositions
- Act as product owner for services in cross-functional and international group environments
- Provide technical input into pricing logic, go-to-market strategy, and value positioning
Skills/experience
- Strong technical grounding in materials science, applied engineering, physics, chemistry, or laboratory-led environments
- Hands-on exposure to technical services, testing, characterisation, or precision manufacturing
- Experience commercialising complex or bespoke technical offers
- Able to work credibly alongside engineers, scientists, and operational teams
- Comfortable structuring non-standard services into clear commercial propositions
- Strong analytical and data-driven mindset
- Excellent stakeholder management across both technical and commercial functions
- A confident communicator who can simplify technical complexity without oversimplifying
- Comfortable operating within a global, multi-entity group structure
Salary & working hours
- Salary: up to £60,000 per annum, dependent on experience
- Location: St Ives, Cambridgeshire — office based with hybrid flexibility
