Product Manager

Location: Redditch, Worcestershire
Salary: £50,000–£55,000 DOE + Benefits
Employment: Permanent, Full Time

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to take responsibility for the development and ongoing success of an established portfolio of fire detection, access control and security-related products.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong product background who enjoys combining technical knowledge, commercial awareness and product development.

You will take ownership of the product lifecycle, helping to identify new opportunities, develop the product roadmap and ensure products continue to meet customer, market and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with technical, quality, design, sales, marketing and manufacturing teams, you will play a key role in bringing new products to market and developing the existing range.

What You'll Be Doing

Product Strategy & Development

Develop and manage the product roadmap in line with customer needs, market trends and business objectives.

Identify opportunities for new products, product enhancements and range development.

Help develop a clear good, better and best product offering for the UK wholesale market.

Support product development from initial concept through to successful launch.

Define product specifications and ensure projects are delivered effectively.

Market & Competitor Analysis

Research market trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies.

Gather and analyse customer and market feedback.

Identify gaps within the existing product portfolio.

Use commercial and technical insight to recommend new products and improvements.

Technical Documentation & Compliance

Produce and maintain product specifications, instructions and supporting technical documentation.

Ensure certification, packaging and product documentation remain accurate and up to date.

Support compliance with CE, UKCA and relevant international product standards.

Work closely with technical and quality teams to ensure products meet required standards.

Stakeholder Management

Work closely with sales, marketing, technical, quality, design, operations and manufacturing teams.

Act as a key point of contact for product-related matters across the business.

Communicate product developments, launches and key milestones to stakeholders.

Provide technical product support for customer enquiries when required.

Product Performance

Monitor product performance, including revenue, profitability and market share.

Produce regular product performance reports.

Use data and market insight to make recommendations for future development and growth.

Suppliers & Overseas Factories

Build effective relationships with global suppliers and manufacturing partners.

Assess the suitability and capability of factories for new products and projects.

Work with overseas suppliers throughout product development.

Travel periodically to the Far East and Europe to review suppliers, factories and fire/security-related projects.

About You

We are looking for someone who can combine product management experience with a practical, commercially focused approach.

You will ideally have:

Previous experience within product management, product development or a product-focused technical role.

Experience supporting products from concept through development and into the market.

Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously.

Experience working with overseas factories and suppliers, ideally including the Far East.

Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making ability.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

A willingness to travel within the UK and overseas when required.

A full UK driving licence.

Desirable Experience

Experience within the fire and security sector would be particularly advantageous, including knowledge of:

Fire detection systems

Access control

Security-related products

CE and UKCA requirements

Relevant UK and international product standards

Product certification and regulatory compliance

Mentoring, coaching or managing others

Adobe Creative Cloud applications such as InDesign
