Job Description:

Production Operative - Float Operator

Location: Perth
Pay Rate: £14.08 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, Double Day Shift Pattern
Contract: Temporary ongoing with permanent opportunities

Looking for More Than a Standard Production Role?

Are you looking for a manufacturing role where you can learn new skills, work across different areas and enjoy more variety in your working day? We're recruiting a Production Operative (Float Operator) to join a busy and growing manufacturing team in Perth.

Unlike a standard production role where you may work on the same process every day, as a Float Operator you'll be trained across multiple areas of production, stepping in where support is needed and developing a broad range of practical manufacturing skills.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is adaptable, hands-on and eager to learn, with ongoing work and genuine permanent prospects for the right person.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Float Operator, you'll support different areas of the manufacturing process, helping the wider team maintain production, quality and safety standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out bonding, cutting and grinding processes
• Operating test beds and heating lamps
• Moving between different production areas depending on operational requirements
• Supporting machine operation and basic machine set-up
• Following Standard Operating Procedures and detailed work instructions
• Carrying out quality checks on raw materials and finished products
• Checking your work carefully to ensure quality standards are achieved
• Accurately recording production information
• Using computer systems to enter and update information where required
• Identifying faults, defects or inconsistencies and reporting these promptly
• Supporting colleagues to meet production targets and deadlines
• Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe
• Following health and safety requirements at all times

What We're Looking For

This role is all about flexibility and willingness to learn. Because you'll be supporting different production areas, you'll need to be comfortable adapting to different tasks and processes.

We're particularly interested in candidates who have:

• Previous manufacturing, production or industrial experience
• A strong work ethic and reliable approach to attendance
• Excellent attention to detail
• A quality-focused approach to work
• Good IT and data entry skills
• The ability to follow detailed processes and instructions
• A willingness to learn new production processes
• A flexible approach to moving between different areas and tasks
• Good problem-solving skills
• A proactive attitude and willingness to get involved
• The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
• The ability to maintain accuracy while working towards production targets

Desirable Experience

It would be advantageous if you have previous experience with:

• Operating machinery within a manufacturing environment
• Basic machine set-up
• Technical or hands-on production processes
• Working to defined production targets
• Quality checking or inspection
• Working within a structured manufacturing environment

Don't worry if you haven't done everything listed above. Full training will be provided, and we're particularly interested in candidates who have the right attitude and are keen to develop their skills.

Why Apply?

• £14.08 per hour
• Monday to Friday working
• Double day shift pattern
• Ongoing, long-term work
• Genuine permanent opportunities for the right candidates
• Full training and ongoing support
• Learn a variety of manufacturing processes
• Gain experience across multiple production departments
• Develop valuable technical and machine-operating skills
• Varied role where you won't necessarily be doing the same task every day
• Opportunity to build a long-term career within manufacturing
• Work as part of an established and supportive team

Could You Be the Right Fit?

This isn't a role for someone who wants to stay on one task or one production line all day.

We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, picks up new processes quickly and is happy to move between departments depending on where they're needed.

You'll need to be reliable, safety-conscious and able to maintain a high standard of work. Most importantly, you'll need a positive attitude and genuine willingness to learn.

If you're someone who asks questions, wants to understand how things work and enjoys building new practical skills, the Float Operator position could be an excellent next step.

Ready for Your Next Opportunity?

If you have previous manufacturing, production or industrial experience and you're looking for a role offering variety, development and long-term prospects, we'd love to hear from you.
