Production Operative
Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Production Operative to join a busy and growing manufacturing business. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced production environment, where you will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing process, handling materials and ensuring products are produced safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within manufacturing, with full training provided on production equipment and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely move, store and organise raw materials, components and finished goods throughout the production facility.
- Load and unload deliveries using the appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Supply production lines with the correct materials to ensure manufacturing runs efficiently and without interruption.
- Operate production machinery and equipment following full training, standard operating procedures and health and safety guidelines.
- Carry out basic quality inspections to ensure products meet company standards and report any defects or non-conformances.
- Complete production documentation accurately where required.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment in line with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues during shift handovers, ensuring any production issues, quality concerns or equipment faults are clearly passed on.
- Work closely with production, warehouse and quality teams to achieve daily production targets.
- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work at all times.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute positively to team objectives.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment is desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to learn new production processes and operate manufacturing equipment.
- Good attention to detail with a focus on producing high-quality work.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out manual handling duties.
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to move onto a rotating shift pattern in the future.
Working Hours
Initially, you will work:
- Monday to Friday
- 6.00am to 2.00pm
Following the training period, the role will move onto a rotating weekly shift pattern:
- 6.00am to 2.00pm
- 2.00pm to 10.00pm
Pay
- £15.00 per hour
- Holiday pay accrued in addition to your hourly rate
