Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Pay: £90 - £105 per day

Have you recently graduated with a degree in Psychology and are looking to gain practical experience working with children? Are you interested in understanding behaviour, child development and the impact of additional needs on learning?

A welcoming specialist school in Wokingham is seeking a motivated Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join its team as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a Psychology graduate to gain hands-on experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism (ASD), ADHD, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs and learning difficulties.

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop positive relationships and build confidence. You will gain valuable insight into how psychological principles can be applied within an educational environment.

As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
• Help children develop their communication, social and emotional skills
• Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour
• Assist teachers with delivering engaging and adapted learning activities
• Observe pupil progress and identify areas where additional support may be required
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive engagement
• Work alongside experienced teachers, SEN specialists and therapeutic professionals

The school is looking for someone who is enthusiastic, empathetic and keen to develop their understanding of child development and additional needs. A degree in Psychology or a related subject is desirable, and previous experience working with children through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, childcare or volunteering would be beneficial.

This Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant position is particularly suited to aspiring educational psychologists, clinical psychologists, child psychologists, therapists and teachers who want to build relevant experience before pursuing further training.
