Public Space Assistant Manager

Mansfield District Council have a great opportunity for a Public Space Assistant Manager to join the team based in Mansfield. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £46,579 - £50,908 per annum
Public spaces are one of the Council’s most visible and valued services. We are looking for a Public Space Assistant Manager to help lead the effective delivery of Street Cleansing, Town Centre and Parks services.
Reporting to the Public Space and Bereavement Services Manager, you will provide operational leadership to supervisors, team leaders and operatives. You will help ensure services are safe, efficient and responsive, while supporting service improvement, positive culture change and effective use of resources.
Key responsibilities include managing day-to-day service delivery, monitoring performance, using data and customer feedback to identify improvements, overseeing budgets, supporting plans and projects, and ensuring health and safety procedures are implemented and reviewed. You will also support corporate events and may be required to supervise out-of-hours operations and emergencies as part of the role.
We are seeking someone with experience of managing operational resources, leading teams and supporting culture change. You should be able to manage competing priorities, analyse and resolve problems, communicate clearly, interpret performance information and work effectively as part of a management team. Knowledge of health and safety legislation, experience of risk assessments, good IT skills and a full driving licence are essential. A relevant leadership, management or coaching qualification, or equivalent significant experience, is also required.
A background in Street Cleansing, Parks or Town Centre operations, knowledge of environmental legislation or horticulture, and experience of working with residents, Councillors, community leaders and Council officers would be advantageous.
