The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Regional Director to join Hensall Group, a well-established Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractor, based at their Kirkham office in Lancashire.

Reporting directly to the Chief Projects Officer, this senior leadership position carries significant operational and commercial responsibility, with full accountability for the successful delivery and financial performance of a portfolio of complex M&E projects.

The successful candidate will bring a strong Electrical contracting background, extensive senior management experience and the commercial expertise to lead multidisciplinary teams, drive operational performance and maintain key client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Regional Leadership: Provide senior leadership across the Kirkham operation, setting high standards for operational performance, accountability and team development.

• Portfolio Management: Take full accountability for the successful delivery of allocated M&E projects, from preconstruction and design through to procurement, construction, commissioning, handover and final account.

• Commercial Performance: Take ownership of project profitability, financial forecasting, cash flow, commercial risk, contractual obligations and recovery strategies.

• Strategic Oversight: Work directly with the Chief Projects Officer to review portfolio performance, resource requirements, operational risks and business priorities.

• Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor and develop project management and operational teams, ensuring effective resource allocation, clear accountability and high performance.

• Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, ensuring customer satisfaction and supporting repeat business opportunities.

• Operational Excellence: Ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with contractual requirements, agreed programmes, quality standards and financial targets.

• Cross-Functional Management: Work closely with preconstruction, design, commercial and technical teams to ensure effective coordination and successful project outcomes.

• Business Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen operational processes, enhance project performance and drive continuous improvement.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an established senior leader with the technical credibility, commercial acumen and operational experience to manage a complex portfolio of M&E projects.

Essential Requirements:

• Strong Electrical background within the M&E / Building Services contracting sector.

• Extensive senior management experience, ideally operating at Managing Director, Regional Director, Project Director or Commercial Director level.

• Proven track record of successfully overseeing multiple complex M&E projects.

• Significant commercial experience, with responsibility for project profitability, budgets, financial forecasting, cash flow, variations and contractual management.

• Demonstrable experience leading, managing and developing multidisciplinary project delivery teams.

• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical building services, design coordination, procurement, commissioning and project delivery.

• Excellent leadership, communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels.

• Proven ability to develop and maintain senior-level client relationships, resolve complex challenges and drive business performance.

• Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to identify risk, protect profitability and deliver successful project outcomes.

Candidates must be based within a reasonable commuting distance of Kirkham, Lancashire, or be willing to relocate.
