Job Description:

Regional Sales Director – Maritime (231jc) – London/Remote – Excellent Package

An established UK defence technology and engineering business is looking to appoint an experienced Regional Sales Director to drive sales of advanced radar products, systems and solutions across its designated markets.

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

This is a senior, commercially focused position offering responsibility for the complete sales lifecycle from identifying and qualifying opportunities through to solution development, proposals, negotiation, contract award and post-sale delivery support.

The role would suit an accomplished sales or business development professional with experience of complex technical solutions and long-term customer relationships. Experience within defence, radar, maritime, naval or related technology markets would be particularly advantageous, although candidates from other relevant technical industries will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

As Regional Sales Director, you will take ownership of sales activity across your allocated markets and territories. Your responsibilities will include:

- Identifying, developing and prioritising key market and customer opportunities.

- Delivering against agreed sales forecasts and commercial targets.

- Managing key customer accounts and developing strong, long-term relationships.

- Taking ownership of opportunities throughout the complete sales process, from initial identification and qualification through to proposals, negotiation and contract award.

- Understanding customer operational and technical requirements and working with internal specialists to develop appropriate system solutions.

- Preparing and delivering compelling commercial and technical presentations.

- Producing quotations and proposals for both new and existing customers.

- Negotiating commercial terms and contracts.

- Taking commercial responsibility for accounts, including profitability, payment terms and, where necessary, debt management.

- Identifying opportunities for new markets, products and services.

- Maintaining accurate opportunity, pipeline and sales forecasting information within company systems.

- Working closely with international sales and marketing channels.

- Maintaining a strong understanding of the organisation's product and technology portfolio.

- Monitoring competitor products, technologies and wider market developments.

- Providing customer and market insight to support future product development and new product design.

- Attending industry conferences, exhibitions and customer meetings in the UK and internationally.

- Supporting wider marketing activities, including exhibitions, campaigns and sales collateral.

- Supporting post-sale activity to help ensure contracted systems and products are delivered in line with customer commitments.

About You

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional who can combine strategic sales capability with the credibility to engage customers around sophisticated technical products and solutions.

You should be able to demonstrate:

- A strong track record in sales, business development and key account management.

- Experience managing complex, high-value or technically sophisticated sales opportunities.

- Excellent customer relationship management skills.

- Strong commercial acumen, ideally including experience of P&L or account profitability responsibility.

- The ability to understand customer requirements and work with technical teams to develop appropriate solutions.

- Strong negotiation and contract management capabilities.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience preparing professional proposals and commercial presentations.

- Confidence presenting to senior customers, partners and internal stakeholders.

- Competence with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

- The flexibility and willingness to undertake regular UK and overseas travel, sometimes at relatively short notice.

Also, due to the nature of their client base, you will be required to hold UK Security clearance as it is necessary to the post.

Relevant Sector Experience

Previous experience within radar technology, maritime systems, naval solutions or the defence sector would be highly advantageous.

Candidates with experience in the marine industry, particularly those with a navigation or maritime operational background combined with commercial experience, are also of interest.

However, direct radar or defence experience is not essential. Applications are welcomed from commercially successful individuals operating within other complex engineering, technology, electronics or technical systems environments who can demonstrate the ability to understand sophisticated products and sell solutions into demanding customer markets.

The Package

- Highly commercial package dependent upon experience.

- Hybrid working: 3 days per week on site and 2 days working from home after a suitable period

- Senior commercial role within a highly specialised technology and engineering environment.

- Significant exposure to UK and international customers and markets.

- Opportunity to work with advanced radar, surveillance and maritime technology.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced sales leader who enjoys combining commercial strategy, technical solution selling and senior customer engagement within an international, technology-led environment.
