Job Description:
We are currently recruiting compassionate and resilient Residential Child Support Workers to join a warm, therapeutic children’s home supporting young people aged 10 and under.

About the Role
You will support children with emotional and behavioural needs (EBD) within a therapeutic residential setting. The home focuses heavily on relationship building, emotional regulation and creating positive experiences for the young people through structured support and activities.
The children attend school full-time and staff work closely together to maintain a safe, stable and homely environment.
Shift Patterns
We offer flexible mixed shifts including:
- Weekend long days: 8am – 8pm
- Weekend waking nights: 8pm – 8am
- Weekday PM shifts: 2:30pm – 10pm
- Sleep-ins also available
What You’ll Be Doing
- Building positive relationships with young people
- Supporting children through emotional and behavioural challenges using therapeutic approaches
- Using de-escalation techniques to manage difficult situations calmly and safely
- Taking part in activities and outings with the children, especially during weekends
- Maintaining a safe and secure home environment at all times
- Supporting children to maintain healthy family relationships where appropriate
- Reading and following care plans to understand individual needs, triggers and support strategies
- Working as part of a 2:1 staffing team — never lone working
Requirements
- A calm, patient and resilient nature
- Ability to engage effectively with young people and build strong relationships
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a professional and supportive manner
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children or young people (residential care, schools, youth work, SEN, family support or similar)
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Applicants must be aged 21 or over
