Nuclear & Industrial Sales Engineer – UK

An established scientific instrumentation company specialising in radiation detection and monitoring equipment across the nuclear, industrial, defence, medical and research sectors.

The Role

An opportunity has arisen for a Sales Engineer to join a growing commercial team, covering customers across the UK and Ireland.

The role involves a combination of new business development and existing account management, supporting customers with a range of radiation detection and monitoring solutions.

You will work with customers across nuclear power, defence, industrial manufacturing, universities, radiation protection, mining and environmental monitoring.

The position involves regular customer visits, typically 2–3 days per week, with occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with existing customers.
• Identify and generate new business opportunities across the nuclear and industrial sectors.
• Provide technical product information and recommend solutions based on customer requirements.
• Visit customer sites to understand applications and demonstrate equipment.
• Work closely with internal teams and manufacturers to deliver suitable solutions.
• Attend industry exhibitions, conferences and trade shows.
• Maintain accurate customer records and sales activity within the CRM.
• Manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to sale.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

• Scientific or technical background, ideally with a degree in Physics, Chemistry, Electronics or a related discipline, or relevant industrial experience.
• Comfortable working with ionising radiation and visiting licensed nuclear sites.
• Strong communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
• Personable, professional and confident working directly with customers.
• Organised, self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Willingness to travel regularly and stay away from home when required.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to obtain and maintain BPSS security clearance and complete any additional required background checks.

Desirable:

• Knowledge of or interest in nuclear physics, radiation protection or electronics.
• Experience within nuclear, industrial or electronics markets.
• Previous technical sales or customer-facing experience.
• Proven track record in a sales role.

Candidates from relevant scientific or engineering backgrounds looking to move into technical sales will also be considered.
