Hours:       40 hours per week, Monday–Friday

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to lead commercial growth, develop key customer relationships and drive new business opportunities for an established technical organisation based in Totnes, Devon.

Working closely with the Managing Director and wider team, you will play a key role in delivering revenue and margin targets, strengthening customer partnerships and supporting continued business growth.

This is a hands-on commercial role suited to a proactive and commercially driven sales professional with experience in a technical, industrial or manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the sales strategy to achieve revenue and margin targets.
• Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities across target markets and sectors.
• Manage and grow existing customer relationships and key accounts.
• Prepare and deliver quotations, proposals and tenders in line with pricing policy.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer requirements.
• Provide regular sales performance reporting and forecasting to the Managing Director.
• Represent the business at customer meetings, trade shows and industry events.
• Travel elsewhere in the UK and occasionally overseas, as required.
• Work closely with Operations, Technical and Finance teams to ensure customer commitments are delivered.
• Maintain accurate CRM records, sales pipelines and customer information.
• Comply with company health and safety requirements when working on customer sites.
• Maintain confidentiality of company, customer and supplier information.

Person Specification

Essential

• Proven experience in a Sales Manager or senior sales role, ideally within a technical, industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Strong track record in new business development and account management.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong commercial awareness, including pricing, margins and sales performance.
• Full, valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
• Self-motivated, organised and able to work independently.

Desirable

• Experience managing or mentoring a small sales team.
• Familiarity with CRM systems and sales reporting tools.
• Existing network of contacts within relevant industry sectors.
