Job Title: SCADA Integration Engineer

Role Description

AZOROM has an ongoing contract with ESB and wishes to fill this present position.

ESB Renewable Operations (ESB Generation and Trading) is responsible for the Operation and Maintenance of ESB’s On-shore Wind and Distributed Generation asset portfolio.

As part of delivery of the Net Zero by 2040 Strategy it is our ambition that we will generate 70% of our electricity generation from renewable assets by 2030 with 1.7GW of offshore wind, 3.5GW of onshore wind and 900MW of solar {dependent on planning and development) and also incorporates 500 MW of renewables enabling flexible generation assets including battery energy storage systems, peaking plants and grid support devices such as synchronous condensers.

In order to successfully integrate the current pipeline of assets in development and construction, namely, Solar, remotely operated OCGT and on-shore Wind, Renewable Operations are seeking to fill a temporary role (12 months) to deliver the integration of Asset Operating System (SCADA/HMI) into the Remote Operations Centre. (ROC).

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the integration of OEM HMI into Remote Operation Centre.
• Interface between ESB project delivery team and OEM SCADA provider. Manage/attend meetings and ensure project deadlines are met.
• Define points list and manage and commissioning integration of same into ESB second tier SCADA system.
• Commissioning of RTU/PLC to control and manage Electrical Balance of Plant at Substation.
• Work with OEM SCADA provider to interface with ESB Secure network infrastructure ensuring compliance with ESB Cyber security standards.
• Manage integration of CCTV systems on site.
• Manage commission and integration of site meters into 2nd Tier SCADA system.
• Troubleshoot communications issue on new and existing sites.
• Complete and maintain as built drawings for new and existing sites.
• Contribute to the design SCADA and telecoms solutions for all new onshore wind and distributed generation assets.
• Contribute to the maintenance policy for the SCADA system to achieve best practice availability.
• Implement and manage the maintenance policy for key communication equipment including broadband, network communication equipment and ancillary equipment on all sites.
• Contribute to the design of the Operation Control requirements (SCADA/Telecoms/Cyber systems) to enable future offshore wind remote operations management at ESB.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

• Excellent Technical and analytical ability with capability to develop large scale data systems and tools.
• Excellent knowledge and experience of communication and SCADA IT systems.
• A track record in delivering SCADA Integration projects, with relevant experience in managing projects.
• 3rd level qualification in engineering, business or equivalent.
• At least 10 years postgraduate experience.

Desirable

• Experience, knowledge and competence in Operations/Maintenance of Renewable/Power Plant and in Renewable/Power Plant technologies, systems and procedures.

Qualifications

Essential

• Relevant 3rd level qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent work experience is required.

Desirable

• Experience, knowledge and competence in Generation Assets Control Systems and in Renewable/Power Plant technologies, systems and procedures.

Base Location

The successful candidate will be based at ESB Head Office in Dublin. It will also be a requirement to travel regularly to sites Ireland as part of asset integration work.

The successful candidate must work from the base location or on site a full-time basis. Office and Sites (50/50).
