A well-regarded secondary school in Wakefield is seeking a reliable, proactive, and hardworking School Caretaker to join its site team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, site supervisor, facilities operative, or maintenance professional looking to play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming learning environment.

The successful candidate will take pride in the appearance and upkeep of the school and be committed to ensuring the premises are maintained to a high standard for staff, students, and visitors.

• Opening and securing the school premises each day.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks.
• Conducting regular health and safety checks across the site.
• Monitoring the condition of buildings, grounds, and facilities.
• Liaising with contractors and supporting planned maintenance works.
• Assisting with room setups for events, examinations, and school activities.
• Managing site security and responding to any site-related issues.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures and statutory requirements.
• Supporting the wider site team with day-to-day operational tasks.

• Previous experience in a caretaker, site supervisor, facilities, maintenance, or estates role.
• Practical maintenance and repair skills.
• A good understanding of health and safety practices.
• The ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive and flexible approach to work.
• Experience working within a school or educational environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
