School Caretaker

Part Time | Immediate Start | School Setting

We are seeking a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join a busy school, helping to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

This is a hands-on role that would suit an individual with maintenance, facilities, or caretaking experience who takes pride in keeping buildings and grounds well-maintained and operating efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Opening and/or securing the school premises.
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensuring school buildings and grounds are safe, clean, and well-presented.
• Conducting routine health and safety checks.
• Responding to maintenance requests and site-related issues.
• Monitoring site security and reporting concerns.
• Assisting with room setups for meetings, events, and examinations.
• Liaising with contractors and overseeing site access where required.
• Supporting compliance with health and safety procedures.
• Assisting with the day-to-day operation of the school site.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a caretaker, site assistant, maintenance, facilities, or similar role.
• Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
• A reliable, flexible, and proactive approach to work.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Good communication skills and a professional manner.

Essential Requirements

• Previous caretaking, maintenance, or facilities experience.
• Ability to carry out the physical demands of the role.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and secure school environment.
• A current Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the DBS Update Service.

Please note: This position is based within a school. Due to safeguarding requirements, we are unable to consider candidates who do not already hold a valid Enhanced DBS Certificate registered with the DBS Update Service.
