School Caretaker – Birmingham (B19)

Bright Star Talent is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a supportive primary school in Birmingham (B19) who are looking to welcome a reliable and experienced School Caretaker to their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, secure and well-kept school environment. The role will involve taking responsibility for the day-to-day upkeep and security of the school site, working closely with school staff to ensure the building and grounds are ready for pupils and staff each day.

The working hours for this position are 6:00am – 2:00pm, Monday to Friday. Previous experience working as a caretaker or site staff member within a school is preferred.

As a School Caretaker, you will:

• Open and secure the school site each day.

• Carry out general maintenance and minor repairs around the school.

• Ensure the school buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well maintained.

• Complete regular site, health and safety checks.

• Identify and report any maintenance or safety concerns.

• Set up rooms, furniture and equipment when required.

• Monitor the security of the school premises.

• Liaise with contractors and visitors attending the school site where required.

• Support the wider school team with general site and caretaking duties.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Previous caretaking, maintenance or site experience.

• Previous experience working within a school is preferred.

• Good practical and general maintenance skills.

• A reliable, organised and proactive approach to your work.

• A good understanding of health and safety.

• The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.

• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with school staff.

• A professional and responsible approach to working within a school environment.

• A fully enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
