The Role

As a General Cover Teacher, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), ensuring students remain engaged and on task during teacher absences.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-prepared lessons across a variety of secondary school subjects.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
• Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
• Ensure students complete the work set and remain focused throughout lessons.
• Adapt confidently to different school settings and classroom environments.
• Provide feedback to the relevant department or teaching staff following lessons.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students.

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching or working with secondary-aged students.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Flexibility and confidence to cover a range of subjects.
• A professional, proactive, and reliable approach.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing.
