About GMS

For over 20 years, GMS has grown into one of the UK's leading security specialists, protecting people, property and critical sites nationwide, from Glasgow to Portsmouth, Manchester to London. As an SIA Approved Contractor with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 accreditation, we're trusted with some of the country's most prestigious manufacturing sites, and we hold ourselves to the highest industry standards of quality and safety.

We're an Armed Forces Covenant employer and a Disability Confident organisation, and we invest in our people through structured training, recognition schemes like Guard of the Month, and genuine routes to progression. Our values, agile, sustainable, intelligent, collaborative and trusted, shape how we work and how we treat our team.

This role puts you at the heart of one of GMS's most prestigious contracts: a Jaguar Land Rover site in Coventry. Beyond day-to-day security, you'll build a real technical specialism in fire safety and prevention, with fully funded FREC and BAFE qualifications, and a clear path to further progression within the business.

What you'll be doing

• Conducting monthly fire safety reviews and annual fire evacuation schedules across the site

• Administering hot work permits to reduce fire risk

• Patrolling vulnerable areas and the car park, and managing vehicle infringements

• Carrying out hydrant, sprinkler, fire alarm and security intruder alarm tests on a rolling schedule

• Maintaining and servicing fire extinguishers

• Responding to and helping control emergency situations, including fires, on site

• Providing First Response Emergency Care (FREC) medical response

• Assisting local authority emergency services

• Conducting vehicle and personnel searches, and assisting with gate operations

• Supporting fire marshal training and equipment maintenance checks

What you'll need

• SIA Licence (Security or Door Supervisor) - mandatory

• A UK driving licence - mandatory

• The ability to pass a fitness test for this role

• Excellent communication skills and computer literacy

• A professional demeanour with sound judgement

• Strong customer service skills

• The initiative to work independently, and the willingness to work as part of a team

• Punctuality you take seriously

Full training is provided. Once in post, you'll work towards a FREC certificate (Intermediate) with AED and level two medical gases within your first day of training, and a BAFE Fire Extinguisher Technician certificate within 6 months.

How we reward you

You'll earn £15.43 per hour, with incentives through our employee recognition scheme, referral payments, family member benefits, a group pension scheme, access to earned wages through Hastee Pay, mental health support and an employee benefits platform.
