SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Rochdale
Pay: £16.90 per hour
Contract: Full-Time | Ongoing temporary contract

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are looking for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive specialist setting in Rochdale.

The Role
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
- Support pupils in managing emotions, behaviour and engagement in learning.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to promote confidence and resilience.
- Use de-escalation and behaviour management strategies to support pupils throughout the school day.
- Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider pastoral team to deliver personalised support.
- Encourage independence, emotional wellbeing and positive social interactions.
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour or additional needs.
- A calm, patient and resilient approach.
- Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
- Ability to remain positive and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience within schools, PRUs, alternative provisions, residential care or youth work is desirable.
