Overview:
Education Personnel are delighted to be working in partnership with a progressive and well-respected school in Derby to recruit a dedicated and experienced SENDCO for a full-time position starting September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate SEND professional to lead and develop SEND provision across the school, ensuring all pupils receive the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
- Leading and managing SEND provision across the school: Ensuring effective identification, assessment, and support for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
- Developing and implementing SEND strategies: Creating and monitoring SEND support plans, interventions, and inclusive teaching practices to improve pupil outcomes.
- Working collaboratively with staff and external agencies: Liaising with teachers, support staff, parents/carers, and external professionals to coordinate appropriate provision and support.
- Monitoring pupil progress and achievement: Tracking the progress of SEND pupils, analysing data, and implementing targeted interventions where necessary.
- Supporting and advising staff: Providing guidance and training to colleagues on SEND best practice, inclusive strategies, and statutory requirements.
- Ensuring compliance with SEND legislation and safeguarding requirements: Maintaining accurate records and ensuring the school meets all statutory SEND responsibilities.
- Contributing to the wider school community: Promoting inclusion throughout the school and contributing to the overall development and well-being of pupils and staff.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current SEND legislation.
- Experience supporting or leading SEND provision within a UK school.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies.
- Strong commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
