Job Purpose

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for all elements of financial and management reporting across ATT. They will prepare the monthly management accounts and have full ownership of the balance sheet accounts including reconciliations and VAT returns for the UK and several international jurisdictions. They will produce monthly management information inclusive of variance analysis to support budget holders and the wider organisation in decision making.

The scope of the role includes all elements of the finance function including internal reporting, financial controls, control account reconciliation, cash management, statutory reporting and audit.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to play a pivotal role within a small but high-impact finance team. Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer, you will take ownership of financial and management reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of insights that support strategic decision-making across the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys a broad, hands-on role with exposure to senior stakeholders, financial planning, and audit.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the monthly close process, ensuring accurate recording of income and expenditure

Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary

Maintain full ownership of the balance sheet, including monthly reconciliations

Manage accruals, prepayments, deferred income, and journal postings

Produce consolidated monthly reporting packs for senior leadership

Lead the annual budgeting process across departments

Work with stakeholders to deliver financial forecasts (Q1, Q2 and beyond)

Provide insightful analysis on budget vs actuals and forecast movements

Produce rolling 12-month cashflow forecasts

Support the preparation of statutory accounts under FRS102 and relevant SORP guidelines

Lead audit preparation, ensuring schedules and supporting documentation are delivered on time

Prepare and submit UK VAT returns (including partial exemption calculations)

Manage international VAT/GST submissions

Ensure all statutory filings are accurate and compliant with deadlines

Oversee credit control activities, including relationship management with key accounts

Approve supplier payments and support cash management processes

Manage finance system integrity and banking platforms

About You

Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)

Minimum 1–2 years post-qualification experience

Strong background in management accounting and balance sheet reconciliations

Experience in audit processes and acting as a key audit contact

Proven experience preparing VAT returns (charity sector exposure desirable but not essential)

Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyse large datasets

Strong understanding of financial reporting standards (FRS102; SORP desirable)

Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Confident communicator, able to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders

Proactive, hands-on, and able to manage competing priorities independently
