Senior BIM Coordinator

Senior BIM Coordinator – MEP / LOD 400 / Off-Site Manufacturing
Location: Heywood, Greater Manchester
Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + Package DOE
Employment: Permanent, Full-Time
Mech Electrics are recruiting for an experienced Senior BIM Coordinator to join a specialist MEP contracto off-site manufacturing facility in Heywood, this is a specialist BIM position focused on taking coordinated MEP designs through to LOD 400 / fabrication level, supporting the manufacture and assembly of substantial prefabricated MEP modules.r delivering technically complex projects within the data centre sector.
We are looking for somebody who understands how detailed digital information translates into something that can actually be fabricated, assembled and installed.
The Role
Working alongside BIM/CAD, engineering, project and manufacturing teams, you will develop detailed MEP models and assemblies that provide the information required by the off-site manufacturing operation.
Individual modular packages can represent £10m–£25m+ of MEP installation, requiring an exceptional level of digital coordination, detail and constructability.
Responsibilities will include:
Developing coordinated MEP models through to LOD 400
Producing fabrication and assembly-level model information
Detailed modelling of mechanical and electrical services and associated supports and interfaces
Developing and maintaining BIM families, components, catalogues and libraries
Creating detailed assemblies and manufacturing-ready digital information
Producing 3D visualisations and renders to support engineering and manufacturing
Reviewing models for constructability, fabrication requirements and spatial coordination
Working closely with CAD/BIM technicians and MEP design and project engineers
Supporting the development of standardised modular assemblies and repeatable BIM content
Liaising directly with the manufacturing team and incorporating shop-floor feedback into the digital model
Ensuring manufactured assemblies accurately reflect the coordinated project model and installation requirements
Supporting continuous improvement of BIM and DfMA processes
About You
We are particularly interested in BIM professionals who have moved beyond conventional design-stage coordination and have experience producing fabrication-level MEP information.
Ideally, you will have:
Strong MEP / building-services BIM experience
Demonstrable LOD 400 experience
Experience of fabrication, prefabrication, modular MEP or DfMA
Strong Revit capability
Navisworks and BIM coordination experience
Understanding of how mechanical and electrical services are physically assembled and installed
Experience developing BIM families, component libraries or catalogues
Strong understanding of constructability and spatial coordination
The ability to work collaboratively with both digital and manufacturing teams
Previous data centre experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
We are equally interested in candidates from complex MEP environments including healthcare, pharmaceutical, cleanrooms, major commercial projects, airports, infrastructure and industrial facilities where detailed fabrication or modularisation has formed part of the delivery strategy.
The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional BIM coordination and work directly at the interface between digital engineering, MEP construction and off-site manufacturing.
You will be based alongside the manufacturing operation, providing the opportunity to see the assemblies developed digitally being physically manufactured on the shop floor before installation onto major data centre projects.
For an experienced MEP BIM professional with genuine LOD 400 capability, this represents an opportunity to become an important part of a growing and highly sophisticated off-site manufacturing operation.
