Job Description:

Senior Children's Residential Support Worker

Marple, Heaton Moor, Burnage & Bury | Up to £36,840 per year | Full-time, 40 hours

Make a difference. Build a career. Help us build brighter futures.

We're looking for experienced and qualified Children's Residential Support Workers to join our established teams across our children's homes in Marple, Heaton Moor, Burnage and Bury.

At New Horizons, our homes are exactly that — homes. We work hard to create warm, stable and nurturing environments where children and young people feel safe, valued and accepted.

You'll be joining supportive, experienced teams who genuinely care about the young people they work with and about each other.

The role

You'll support children and young people aged 8–17, many of whom have experienced difficult childhoods, disrupted relationships or previous placement breakdowns.

No two days are the same. You might be helping a young person get ready for school, attending an appointment with them, cooking dinner together, supporting them through a difficult day or simply being the consistent adult who is there when they need someone.

It's a challenging role at times, but it's also an incredibly rewarding one. The relationships you build and the stability you provide can have a lasting impact on a young person's life.

Salary & hours

Up to £36,840 per year

Our qualified and experienced Support Workers earn:

Up to £14.25 per hour + £60 per sleep-in

You'll work 40 hours per week on a shift pattern, including sleep-ins.

Sleep-ins are non-contractual and are allocated fairly according to the needs of each home.

What you'll be doing

As part of the residential care team, you'll:

Provide safe, consistent and nurturing day-to-day care

Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people

Support young people with their emotional, social and practical needs

Safeguard and promote the welfare of every child in our care

Follow individual care plans and contribute to their ongoing development

Support education, appointments, activities and everyday routines

Transport young people safely to school, appointments and activities

Maintain clear and accurate records and reports

Work closely with colleagues, managers and other professionals

Help create a home where young people feel safe, comfortable and able to be themselves

What we're looking for

For this role, you'll need:

About New Horizons

New Horizons (Stockport) Ltd has been caring for children and young people for almost 30 years.

Our purpose has remained the same since the beginning: Building Brighter Futures.

We provide long-term residential care for children and young people who may have experienced disrupted childhoods, difficult relationships or multiple placement breakdowns.

Our homes across Stockport and Greater Manchester are intentionally warm, informal and nurturing. We want the children who live with us to feel that they belong somewhere — not that they simply occupy a placement.

That means employing people who are patient, resilient, compassionate and consistent, and who understand that sometimes the smallest everyday moments can make the biggest difference.

If that sounds like the kind of work you want to be part of, we'd love to hear from you.

Safeguarding

New Horizons (Stockport) Ltd is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all employees to share this commitment.

All appointments are subject to a robust safer recruitment process, including an Enhanced DBS check, references covering full employment history, identity and qualification checks, and verification of the successful candidate's right to work in the UK.

Successful candidates are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and safeguarding practice throughout their employment.
