Senior Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Coventry
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits
Working Hours: Monday - Thursday: 08:00 - 16:35 | Friday: 08:00 - 15:10

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation developing complex electrical systems for specialist vehicle programmes.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, leading electrical design activities from concept through to validation and production support. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop robust, innovative solutions for highly regulated environments.
The successful candidate will enjoy solving complex engineering problems, influencing technical decisions and working across the full product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of electrical systems for specialist engineering projects.
• Produce electrical architectures, schematics and system designs.
• Integrate complex electrical and electronic subsystems into vehicle platforms.
• Work closely with mechanical, systems and manufacturing engineers throughout project delivery.
• Develop engineering solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Support verification, validation and testing activities.
• Manage engineering change, configuration control and technical documentation.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical guidance across project teams.
• Communicate technical information effectively with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and the adoption of new engineering technologies.

The Person The successful candidate will have:

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience designing and integrating complex electrical systems.
• Experience working within highly regulated engineering sectors such as automotive, aerospace, defence, rail or similar.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, system architecture and integration.
• Experience delivering engineering projects throughout the full product lifecycle.
• Knowledge of structured engineering processes including verification & validation, configuration management and design reviews.
• Experience using 3D CAD software (Creo preferred) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools or a willingness to learn.

Desirable

• Experience within vehicle integration or mobile equipment.
• Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements.
• Experience working on complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Previous experience within safety-critical engineering environments..
