Senior Electrical Engineer
Orion is working with an innovative engineering and technology organisation specialising in the design and manufacture of highly complex equipment for advanced applications. Due to continued growth and investment in engineering excellence, they are looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their talented Development Engineering team.
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development and continuous improvement of complex electrical control systems for advanced engineering equipment. Working within a modern, multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will contribute to the evolution of industry-leading products, ensuring they remain at the forefront of technological innovation
Responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Engineer
- Design electrical power distribution and control systems for bespoke engineering equipment.
- Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and manufacturing documentation.
- Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Develop specifications for electrical systems, sub-systems and components.
- Design and implement solutions involving PLCs, fieldbus networks, drives, sensors, pneumatic controls and safety systems.
- Contribute to cross-functional engineering projects focused on product enhancement and innovation.
- Develop and test new control technologies and automation solutions.
- Support manufacturing teams with technical issues arising during production.
- Implement design changes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards, legislation, directives and quality procedures.
- Promote and adhere to health and safety standards across all engineering activities.
Requirements of the Senior Electrical Engineer
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent qualification and experience (minimum HNC with relevant industry experience).
- Strong experience in electrical engineering within a complex engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Control systems.
- Experience designing drive systems, automation systems and pneumatic control systems.
- Knowledge of electro-pneumatic and electromechanical control systems.
- Experience with 3-phase power distribution and heater control systems.
