A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Engineering Manager:
- Reporting into the MAE Civil / Structural Technical Director
- Liaise with Business Unit Heads of Engineering and Project Directors to understand delivery performance and future requirements
- Member of the MAE Senior Leadership Team
- Sit on the Group-wide temporary works fatal and severe risk forum as the MAE representative
- Management of the MAE temporary works team across Murphy offices in the UK including:
- Manage delivery performance across all projects
- Manage commercial performance of temporary works designs across all projects
- Review tendering of temporary works schemes and incorporation of feedback from live schemes
- Assess and manage competency of the team
- Manage the allocation and prioritisation of resources to the projects across the temporary works projects as well as:
- Monitor and update team structure where required
- Recruitment of team members both experienced and early careers
- Line management of Engineering Managers, Design Managers and Principal Engineers
- Implementation of innovative techniques to continually improve the efficiency and delivery performance of the team
- Be the escalation path for challenging projects, providing technical support where needed
- Review and update temp works design control procedure to drive quality submissions in accordance with recognised international and industry codes and standards
- Take a proactive role in the management of careers and the learning & development of all engineering staff, including carrying out personal development reviews
- Kick off urgent / complex temporary works design projects and manage through to a suitable handover position

- Chartered status or working towards chartership
- Demonstrable experience in managing and delivering complex temporary works designs on infrastructure projects
- Proven track record of leading high-performing civil / structural design teams
- Proven track record of collaborating with project teams to produce efficient, buildable designs
