Job Description:

Our client, an engineering organisation in Tyne & Wear, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical design of electromechanical products - from clean-sheet concept through prototype build/test and release into production.

• Owning mechanical design for rotating equipment / drivetrain-style assemblies
• Leading concept development, prototyping, validation and test support
• Delivering engineering analysis (hand calcs + CAE) with a focus on reliability/durability
• Producing 3D CAD and 2D drawings, supporting release to manufacture
• Applying DFM/DFA and DFMEA/PFMEA
• Working closely with manufacturing/test teams, plus supplier management
• Mentoring junior engineers

• Strong 3D CAD + 2D drawing capability (any major CAD package)
• Experience with engineering analysis / CAE
• Practical background in DFM and supporting builds/testing
• Some supplier management exposure
• Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent experience)

• Inventor / SolidWorks, MASTA / KISSsoft
• High-volume manufacturing and/or casting design
• Gears/transmissions/bearings knowledge and related calculations
