Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner for a role with a well-established civil engineering contractor operating across Ireland, UK and Europe. Role will see the candidate working on rail projects across Ireland.
Ideal candidate would have a civil engineering background, preferably on site experience, and strong planning and P6 experience on large scale infrastructure or rail projects.
Overview:
The Senior Planner will be required to produce and develop construction programmes for the preconstruction team from first principles, management, and delivery of project programmes including supporting the estimating team when and if the planning requirement is low. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality tender programmes, contract programmes, estimates, and planning deliverables, while supporting live project teams with programme management, reporting, and change control.
Key Responsibilities
Planning
- Produce tender, baseline, and contract programmes using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Develop programme narratives, methodologies, phasing plans, and critical path analyses.
- Monitor and update live project programmes, progress, and forecasts.
- Support delay analysis, extension of time (EOT) submissions, and compensation event assessments.
- Attend project meetings with clients, delivery teams, and senior management.
Estimating
- Help support the estimating team when and if required.
Experience
- Minimum 6 year’s experience in planning, all within construction industry.
- Background in construction and or engineering.
- Strong experience using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Experience preparing and managing tender and construction programmes from 1st principles.
- Experience within Rail Infrastructure and Civil Engineering
- Excellent communication management skills.
- Experience within delay analysis/CE/EOT including mitigation programmes and reporting narratives
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Resource and cost-loaded programme experience.
- Knowledge of Irish and UK contracts
