Job Description:

Do you have proven experience as a Senior Planner within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or major projects?
Are you highly proficient in Primavera P6 and experienced in developing, updating, and managing complex construction programmes?
Have you carried out critical path analysis, programme reporting, and delay mitigation on large-scale infrastructure or civil engineering projects?

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and proactive Senior Planner to provide planning and programme management support on a major infrastructure project. This is an urgent requirement to support an established delivery team during a period of increased workload.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining programme control, monitoring project progress, identifying risks and opportunities, and supporting project teams to ensure successful delivery. The role requires regular site presence and close collaboration with project management, commercial teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project programmes using industry-standard planning software.
• Monitor project progress against programme milestones and key deliverables.
• Prepare and update short-term and long-term construction programmes.
• Produce programme reports, progress updates, and management dashboards.
• Identify programme risks, delays, and mitigation measures.
• Support commercial and project management teams with programme-related analysis.
• Conduct critical path analysis and assess the impact of changes and variations.
• Facilitate planning meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Review subcontractor programmes and integrate them into the master programme.
• Ensure planning activities comply with contractual requirements and established procedures.
• Support project controls, earned value analysis, and forecasting activities.
• Provide planning expertise and strategic advice to project leadership teams.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

• Proven experience as a Senior Planner within the construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or major projects sectors.
• Strong practical experience using Primavera P6.
• Demonstrable experience managing complex construction programmes.
• Excellent understanding of critical path methodology and programme controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
• Experience producing progress reports and programme updates for senior stakeholders.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

It’s great if you also have the following

• Experience working on major infrastructure, energy, utilities, tunnelling, or civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of NEC contract frameworks.
• Degree or professional qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
• Membership of a recognised professional body such as APM, CIOB, ICE, or equivalent.

This position is based within a major infrastructure and construction environment, working closely with project management, engineering, commercial, and construction delivery teams to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of complex project activities.
