Do you have experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor administering NEC contracts, including compensation events, change control, valuations and final accounts on major infrastructure or engineering projects? The Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial team delivering large scale infrastructure and engineering projects within a highly regulated environment. Due to continued project growth and a strong pipeline of work, this role offers the chance to take ownership of key work packages, providing commercial leadership from procurement and contract administration through to final account settlement. Working alongside project delivery, planning, engineering and procurement teams, you will play a critical role in managing project costs, mitigating risk, ensuring contractual compliance and maximising commercial value throughout the project lifecycle.
Your duties and responsibilities will be:- Manage all commercial and cost management activities for assigned work packages
- Prepare, manage and report project budgets, cost forecasts and cash flow profiles
- Administer NEC contracts, including compensation events, change control and contractual compliance
- Manage valuations, interim applications, variations and final accounts
- Identify, assess and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Lead procurement activities, including tendering, evaluation, negotiation and subcontract appointment
- Manage subcontractor accounts, payments, variations, claims and performance
- Ensure robust change management processes are maintained throughout project delivery
- Provide cost assurance and commercial governance across projects
- Work closely with engineering, planning and project controls teams to manage cost, schedule and scope changes
- Support the development and maintenance of project baselines
- Produce detailed commercial reports, forecasts and performance updates for senior stakeholders
- Support commercial strategy development to optimise project value and performance
- Assist in the management of contractual claims and dispute resolution activities
- Maintain accurate and auditable commercial records
- Promote strong commercial awareness across project teams
- Mentor and develop junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial professionals
- Collaborate with legal, procurement and risk teams to manage contractual and financial exposure
- Ensure all commercial activities are delivered in line with governance, compliance and ethical standards
You will have the following qualifications & experience:- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor position within infrastructure, construction, engineering, utilities, energy, defence, transportation or similarly regulated sectors
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, cost reporting and cash flow
- Demonstrable experience managing compensation events, change control and final accounts
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and manage contractual risk
- Experience in subcontract procurement and subcontractor account management
- Ability to produce accurate commercial reports and financial forecasts
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong understanding of cost management principles and commercial governance
- Experience leading and mentoring commercial team members
It’s great if you also have the following- Experience working within highly regulated project environments
- Knowledge of assurance, audit and governance requirements on major projects
- Experience supporting commercial claims and dispute resolution
- Professional membership with RICS or working towards Chartered status
- Experience leading commercial teams across multiple work packages or projects
- Knowledge of project controls, risk management and integrated cost reporting
- Advanced commercial systems and reporting experience
