SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

South West London Head Office

Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 + Car Allowance

THE OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established Residential Main Contractor, based from their South West London head office and working across a portfolio of high-value projects throughout Central London.

The business has an excellent reputation for delivering complex residential and accommodation schemes, with project values reaching up to £75m. One current example is a new-build student accommodation project valued at up to £55m.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career, with genuine responsibility, autonomy and excellent scope for progression and long-term growth within the business.

THE ROLE

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for major residential projects, working closely with the Project Manager, Commercial Director and wider project team to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably.

You will also have the support of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor working directly underneath you, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your leadership and mentoring skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Take full commercial responsibility for projects valued up to £75m.
• Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
• Lead the procurement and management of subcontract packages.
• Prepare, review and manage valuations, variations, payment applications and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs, cash flow and commercial performance.
• Manage subcontractor accounts and commercial relationships.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background working for a main contractor, ideally within the residential, student accommodation, mixed-use or high-end construction sectors.

You will be commercially astute, confident managing significant project values and comfortable taking ownership of your projects.

You should have:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor.
• Experience managing projects of significant value.
• Strong subcontractor procurement and management experience.
• Excellent knowledge of construction contracts and commercial processes.
• Strong understanding of cost control, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
