We are recruiting for a Sales Executive to join a growing, technology-focused manufacturing business based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

This is a varied commercial role combining customer relationship management, sales, account support and sales administration. It would suit someone who already has a solid grounding in sales or customer-facing commercial work but is now looking for an opportunity where they can develop their skills, increase their commercial responsibility and progress within the business over time.

Salary up to £40,000 depending on experience

The role

Working as part of the Sales & Marketing team, you will support customers throughout the sales and service journey while building your knowledge of the business, products and wider market.

This is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage of growth, with the scope to develop into a more senior sales position as your experience, product knowledge and commercial confidence grow.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing customer enquiries and developing strong customer relationships
• Preparing quotations and processing customer sales orders
• Selling selected products and identifying additional sales opportunities
• Following up leads and supporting the development of the sales pipeline
• Maintaining accurate CRM records and customer information
• Liaising with customers and suppliers throughout the sales process
• Coordinating customer equipment bookings for servicing and calibration
• Keeping customers updated on requirements, lead times and returns
• Working closely with internal service and quality teams to ensure work is completed efficiently
• Producing quotations and documentation for service and calibration work
• Supporting sales management with reporting, pipeline activity and customer follow-up
• Helping coordinate sales meetings, customer visits and trade events
• Providing occasional support with marketing activities including email campaigns, exhibitions and website updates

What we're looking for

You'll ideally have previous experience within a sales, account management, sales support or customer-focused commercial role and be someone who wants to build a longer-term career in sales.

You don't necessarily need to be the finished article. Of equal importance is your attitude, commercial awareness and willingness to learn, with the business keen to develop the right individual into a more senior sales professional.

You'll need:

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A genuine interest in developing a career in sales
• Confidence speaking with customers and identifying commercial opportunities
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail
• The ability to manage several priorities at once
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Previous experience using a CRM or database system
• A proactive, team-focused approach
• The confidence and ambition to take on increasing responsibility as the role develops
