Senior Residential Support Worker – Children’s Residential Care

Location: Burton-on-Trent
Salary: £14.10 per hour + Sleep-In Payments + Overtime Rates
Job Type: Full Time – 155 Hours Per Month

We are recruiting for an experienced and committed Senior Residential Support Worker to join a children’s residential home in Burton-on-Trent, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs within a therapeutic and nurturing environment.

Shift Pattern

The rota typically consists of 7:30am – 11:00pm shifts followed by sleep-ins from 11:00pm – 8:00am. The usual pattern is one full shift and sleep-in followed by two days off, with a mixture of 2–3 shifts per week including weekends.

The Role

You will support children and young people with their daily routines, education, emotional wellbeing, and independence skills while promoting a safe and positive environment within the home. The role involves safeguarding responsibilities, behaviour management, key working, care planning, report writing, and supporting young people through structured activities and routines.

As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will also lead shifts, support junior staff members, contribute to risk assessments and placement plans, and work closely with external agencies including social workers and education providers. Maintaining compliance with Ofsted standards and company policies will form an important part of the role.

Requirements

Applicants must have previous experience within children’s residential care, strong safeguarding knowledge, and a full UK driving licence. NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare and previous senior or shift lead experience would be advantageous.
