Winsearch is recruiting for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join a major digital transformation programme supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure, cloud services and platform operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior infrastructure professional to play a key role in the design, delivery and ongoing improvement of modern hybrid platforms, working across cloud, on-premises and containerised environments. You'll be involved in supporting critical services while driving automation, modernisation and operational excellence initiatives.

The Role

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will provide technical leadership across a complex infrastructure landscape, ensuring systems remain secure, resilient, scalable and aligned with business objectives.

Working closely with architects, security teams, application owners and service delivery functions, you'll support enterprise platforms while contributing to infrastructure transformation and cloud adoption programmes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy and support enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments.
• Administer and optimise Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native technologies.
• Manage and maintain Windows Server and Linux-based environments.
• Deploy, configure and support Kubernetes and OpenShift platforms.
• Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation solutions.
• Ensure infrastructure meets security, compliance, resilience and availability requirements.
• Monitor system health, performance and capacity across multiple platforms.
• Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and service incidents.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
• Support cloud migration, infrastructure transformation and technology refresh projects.

About You

We're looking for a technically strong Systems Engineer with experience operating within complex enterprise or large-scale infrastructure environments.

You should have hands-on experience across a number of the following areas:

• Microsoft Azure administration and cloud services
• Hybrid infrastructure environments
• Windows Server and Linux platform support
• Kubernetes and OpenShift container platforms
• Infrastructure as Code and automation frameworks
• Scripting and orchestration tools
• Infrastructure monitoring, alerting and observability solutions
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning
• Infrastructure security and compliance best practices
• Cloud migration and modernisation programmes

• Deliver reliable, secure and scalable infrastructure solutions.
• Support cloud adoption and governance initiatives.
• Improve platform availability, resilience and performance.
• Contribute to infrastructure modernisation programmes.

Container & Platform Services

• Support and develop Kubernetes and OpenShift environments.
• Enable secure deployment of containerised applications.
• Improve platform automation and operational efficiency.
• Support platform lifecycle management and scalability.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Promote an automation-first approach across infrastructure operations.
• Develop solutions that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across platforms and services.
• Enhance monitoring, reporting and operational processes.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a Senior Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer or Platform Engineer role.
• Strong background supporting enterprise-scale cloud and infrastructure environments.
• Experience working with Microsoft Azure and modern container platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple technical teams and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
