Service Engineer – Bolton Salary: £45,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Service Engineer to join a growing team based in Bolton. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with experience working on diesel engines, generators, hydraulic systems, and plant equipment.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining a fleet of towable welfare units and telehandlers, ensuring all equipment is safe, compliant, and operating efficiently.

Key duties include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and servicing
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
• Performing on-site and depot-based repairs
• Conducting periodic examinations (LOLER)
• Maintaining accurate service schedules and maintenance records
• Ensuring all equipment is clean, presentable, and ready for hire
• Assisting with repairs and maintenance of the powered access fleet when required

What to Expect

• Based in Bolton with nationwide travel as required
• Most work will be carried out across the North West and Midlands
• Occasional overnight stays in hotels will be required
• Varied and hands-on role working both independently and as part of a team

Requirements

• Good working knowledge of 2–5 cylinder diesel engines
• Experience working with generators and hydraulic systems
• Ability to carry out basic electrical and auto-electrical fault finding
• Proven experience building and following service and maintenance schedules
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable

• LOLER qualification (Telehandler category) – preferred but not essential
• Experience working on welfare units, telehandlers, powered access equipment, or similar plant machinery
