Job Description:
Site Engineer
Based in North London
3 Month Contract possibility of extension
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
£325 - 375 per day (dependent on experience) uplifts for weekends and nights if required
Responsibilities:
- Carry out accurate setting out for street works, highways, drainage, and associated civil engineering works.
- Produce and maintain detailed site records, diaries, and as-built surveys.
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and verify dimensions before works commence.
- Monitor quality control procedures and ensure compliance with project standards.
- Assist with the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Support the Site Manager and Project Manager with daily site operations.
- Coordinate subcontractors and site operatives to ensure works are completed safely and efficiently.
- Undertake utility detection and avoidance activities using CAT & Genny equipment.
- Ensure compliance with street works regulations and permit requirements.
- Identify and report design issues, clashes, and site constraints.
- Carry out inspections and quality checks throughout the construction process.
- Maintain accurate records for progress reporting and client handovers.
- Attend site meetings and provide engineering support to project stakeholders.
- Monitor health, safety, environmental, and quality performance on site.
- Assist with programme planning and ensure engineering activities are delivered to schedule.
- Liaise with local authorities, utility providers, and third-party stakeholders when required.
- Ensure all temporary works and construction activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures.
- Support the production of as-built drawings and completion documentation.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on street works, highways, utilities, or civil engineering projects.
- Valid SMSTS certificate.
- Valid First Aid at Work certificate.
- Valid CSCS Card.
- Strong setting out experience using GPS and robotic total station equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Good understanding of health and safety legislation and site compliance requirements.
- Experience producing site records, QA documentation, and as-built information.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage engineering activities on site.
- Experience working on local authority or public realm projects.
- HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of permit-controlled street works environments.
